halloween fun

Just a quick post about taking Doranda's girls to the pumpkin patch.  I know Doranda already posted that they both went with their schools but I also took them one day.  The girls love getting to spend the night with me although they don't get to very often with everyone's busy schedules.  There was no school or work a few Monday's ago so Penelope and Scarlett got to spend the night with me.  In the morning we went to Spooner farm's. Here are some pictures of them going through the maze, and racing the ducks.

David got to go with us to before he went to work.  Good thing because I don't know if we would have made it out of the maze with out him.
I also went to watch a few of there soccer games, since I don't think I will get to see them for a little while.

home projects

We have been busy working around the house on planning and getting some projects done.  One thing we desperately needed to do is get the motorhome out of the driveway and behind the fence.  Some neighborhoods have rules against that but we don't.  I just felt like it needed to be done.  We use to rent a storage place but they increased the fees and we like to keep power to it in the winter so nothing freezes and breaks.  I wanted to get this project done last year but we just had to much stuff and not enough time to get it all done.  First thing we needed to do was get rid of a boat or two. haha
The only "before" picture I could find

We did sell David's older smaller Donzi to a client of mine.  The our neighbor's said we could park the motorhome behind their fence while we worked on it.  Next David bought a rototiller and started tilling up the grass.
Then he took a day off work and him and his nephew worked all weekend on leveling, getting gravel adding wall blocks and stuff.
I just went to work at the salon.  I think David's part is mostly done but we do have someone coming next week (weather permitting) to pour cement to widen the front for more parking, easy driving to the back yard, and adding more walking room on the other side of the driveway.  Hopefully next summer we can replace the fence and get a wider gate.  I think there's only a few inches on each side to get through.  Good thing David's a good driver.  I don't think I could ever make it through without hitting it.

Our next project is planned for Thanksgiving weekend and it's to get new wood flooring.  Then throughout December we will be working more on the kitchen.

Sam...part 2

More about Sam....It's still hard for me to write about her because I loved so much about her that bringing up memories makes me miss her even more.  Sam didn't have much hair so she often snuggled under a blanket (or whatever she could find) to keep warm.  Her breed is also know for borrowing under things.

She wore sweaters and coats to keep warm too.

She even liked to dress up in Seahawks gear and Halloween costumes. (or so I thought)

More so when she was younger maybe.  The older she got the more stubborn and own thoughts she developed.  I really can't believe how smart she was.

When she was about 7 she developed a degenerative back disease common in her bread that required surgery!  The surgery was really expensive but worth it!  She literally could not feel her back legs so she couldn't walk or even stand up.  The surgeon did a wonderful job and she made a full recovery she did have to stay in a kennel for 6 weeks though.  That was tough.  She didn't mind at first because she was so weak and sore but as she started to feel better she wanted out.  The doctor said it was very important not to let her out though to properly heal. (except to go to the bathroom, which I had to carry her out for.)
Sam loved bones and treats as most dogs do but she also loved ice cream and whip cream! She must have got that from me.

Another favorite of hers was beef jerky!  That she got from David.  She could be sound asleep under the blankets and not even hear David come home from work but when he opened the beef jerky for a midnight snack her nose would start wiggling and her head would pop out of the blanket and into the kitchen she would run. There are so many stories I could share.  One time David cooked a prime rib all day and then we headed out the front door to David's brothers for dinner with the rib but with out Sam and she wasn't happy with us at all.  Here is the proof!
I can't believe my perfect little angle could do such a thing but she did.  The best part of the picture is you can see in the windowsill her calming collar to help her be mellow! haha obviously that didn't work.  Ok I think this is a good stopping point for today.  Next time I'll share some vacation photos.  I know there is lots of pictures here but I'm not only writing this to share with all of you but to keep a copy of my memories of Sam's life for myself.

keeping busy

Sorry not much time for blogging this week...I'm not really sure why though...I feel like I'm been trying to stay busy doing things after work so I'm not home alone (David works swing shift).  I've joined the brand new Sumner YMCA and trying to go to classes after work.  I tried yoga and I'm not very good but I enjoy it and am improving.  I also have been going to trivia about once a week.  The people who invited me seam so smart I'm not sure what I'm doing there.  We have won every week except once we took 2nd.  They ask 60 questions and I think they know about 50+ on there own.  I would probably only know around 20 so it doesn't very often seam like I know one they don't however I did know a few they didn't last week.  I've been making a few crafts too and cleaning out extra stuff around the house.  Anyway I'll probably write more about Sam soon too.
